Low Impact Development

The initial costs of implementing well thought out plans designed to protect the quality and quantity of waters in our watershed, and to minimize storm water problems are much less than the costs of remediation of problems caused because of poor planning.

Low Impact Development design (LID) is a very effective way to provide better protection for our watershed. LID, which incorporates features such as buffer zones around streams, provides open natural areas, uses a minimum of impervious surface, includes rain gardens and rain barrels, is a wise investment that our communities can make to protect our waters.

We are ALL stakeholders in our watershed. If we understand how many ways our vital water resource is used and how it can be protected, we can work together to be effective in the planning and implementing process of beneficial watershed management practices.
